Kerala PSC Departmental test / Department test, an overview

 Departmental tests otherwise known as department test are the examinations conducted by Public Service Commission for Employees working in various departments ,autonomous Bodies,Boards,Corporations,Public Sector Undertakings teachers for their promotion and for satisfactory completion of their period of probation.

For e g, Account test Lower,Account test Higher ,Account test or Executive officers ,Test on Kerala Education Act and Rules (K E R),M O P,Criminal Judicial Test,Civil Judicial Test ,Revenue test ,Panchayath test ,G S T and Contract Act KSEB,Elements of Commercial Accounts And Book Keeping KSEB, Companies Act KSEB etc……..

PSC conduct the tests TWICE in a year ie January and July .Department test application can be submitted in December and June every year for the departmental tests to be held in January and July respectively.The Department tests are restricted to employees presently working.Those who are on leave also can apply. 

 How to apply for Department tests ? 

 A.Profile making.

 The entire process of these examinations are through Online. Candidates who wish to apply the departmental tests should build a profile in PSC Department test website/New Registration .The website link is https://psc.kerala.gov.in/kpsc/ . A 150 x 200 pixel dimension below 30 kb photo should be uploaded at the time of making your profile.Name and date in which the photo taken must be clearly mentioned in the photograph. Personal and Official details of the employee must be entered against the column prescribed. After completing these procedure you will get a user ID and password.You have the option to choose your user ID instead of suggested ID subject to availability. Enter your aadhar number as ID proof. After notification of departmental examinations you can apply by using these ID and Password.However department test profile may be create at any time without waiting the exam notifications.It will be better to note the user ID and password at more than one places . 

What shall I do when I forget the user ID and password ?

Those who once created a profile for the department test should not create it again because of the reason that they forgot it.Such candidates should contact PSC departmental test Wing,Thiruvanathapuram in the below mentioned phone number and they will recover your forgotten department test profile.  B.Department test Syllabus.

  Each Department test have its own distinct  syllabus.The syllabi of department tests which are  needed for most of the employees and teachers are Account Test Lower and Higher,Account test for Executive Officers. The syllabus of which are given Below,

  Paper II. Kerala Financial Code I ,II & kerala Budget Manual (with Book)

 Paper III. Kerala Account Code I (with Book)& Introduction to India            Govt Accounts and Audit (with out Book) 

   Paper IV. Kerala Treasury Code I,II & kerala Account Code II (with Book)  

   Account test Syllabus (Higher) 4 Papers :   

 Paper I.  Kerala Service Rules I & II (with Book)   

   Paper II. Kerala Financial Code I ,II & kerala Budget Manual (with Book)    

Paper III. Kerala Account Code I (with Book) & Introduction to India            Govt Accounts and Audit (with out Book) AND       Constitution Of India (with book)    

Paper IV. Kerala Treasury Code I,II & kerala Account Code II (with Book)  

   Account Test for Executive Officers Syllabus (2 Papers) *(Test required for Medical officers, Higher secondary teachers etc…)

   1.Kerala Financial Code Volumes I and II. The Kerala Account Code Volume I and Kerala Budget Manual (Chapters I to 16 IV, VI and VII) (With Books). 

  2.Kerala Service Rules I,II (With Books).    

 Application and remittance of fee  

Application can be submitted after exam notification through the profile we already made.Fees also should be remitted Online. Certificate fee Rs 210 Examination fee Rs 160/Paper   First chance is free for obligatory* departmental examinations (Free Chance)  

 *The term ‘obligatory departmental examination’ means- (i) any test a pass in which is prescribed for the successful completion of probation or training of an officer, whether recruited direct or by transfer; (ii) any test a pass in which is prescribed for the purpose of making an officer eligible for increment or for confirmation in any post; (iii) any test a pass in which is prescribed for promotion to any higher post coming in the line of promotion in the department concerned ;

 Examination Pattern

 Examination will be online or OMR  consisting of 100 questions of Objective Type Multiple choice answer type .In online The question will be displayed in the monitor provided in your seat .You may mark your answer by clicking using mouse ,any option provided as A B C D.The time allotted will be 1 ½ / 2 hours .The text books allowed by PSC can be carry to examination hall and refer it for finding the right answer while examination. *(With book,Govt publications only).However some tests are “without book” in which no books are allowed in the exam hall. Eg: M O P, K E R One question carry one mark.Minimum mark to be secured for clearing the exam is 40.There will be 1/3 negative mark for each wrong answer. Centre will be PSC's online examination centre and Engineering Colleges located at different cities across kerala. 

For choosing the examination centre State is divided into 3 Regions as Thiruvananthapuram,Ernakulam,Kozhikkode. Thiruvananthapuram region includes Thiruvananthapuram,Kollam,Kottayam,Pathanam Thitta districts 

Ernakulam Region includes Ernakulam,Alappuzha,Idukki,Trissur,Palakkad 

Kozhikkode Region includes Malappuram ,Kozhikkode,Wayanad, Kannur,Kasargod

 One can choose the Districts within the Regions on priority basis.

Books can be bought from Govt Publication Agency bookstalls situated in all major cities (Bookstalls where we can we get Service Books and pension Books).Books can also be bought from District Forms Offices Located in Civil Stations at the District Head Quarters and Government Presses .
